Although Blue Pottery has its origins in Turko-Persian culture, it has become a signature craft of Jaipur. The term “Blue Pottery” refers to the distinct Persian blue dye used in coloring the ceramics. Our pottery is made from Egyptian paste, carefully glazed, and low-fired, giving it a delicate yet beautiful appearance. No clay is used in the creation of Blue Pottery; instead, a special “dough” is made by combining powdered glass, quartz stone powder, Multani Mitti (Fuller’s Earth), gum, borax, and water. Some recipes also include Katira Gond powder (a type of gum) and saaji (soda bicarbonate) for added texture.

Blue Pottery is known for its translucent qualities and is often adorned with intricate animal and bird motifs. Due to the low firing temperature, these pieces are more fragile and brittle, making them primarily decorative in nature. Popular items include vases, coasters, ashtrays, boxes, and small bowls. The color palette is rich yet limited, with blue derived from cobalt oxide and green from copper oxide, while occasional touches of white, brown, and yellow are added to create a vibrant contrast.

Where age-old Rajasthani artistry meets timeless beauty.

Our handcrafted blue pottery items are made using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Each piece reflects the rich cultural heritage of Jaipur – vibrant, unique, and full of soul.
